The Computed Tomography Department of Cosmoclinic features a modern CT scanner that offers high-resolution images with a minimized radiation dose, high examination speed, and the capability for multi-planar reconstruction. The examination is performed by specialized technologists in direct collaboration with the attending physician to ensure safe and targeted imaging of the area under investigation.
Computed Tomography (CT) is one of the most important imaging methods, as it provides detailed images of organs, bones, and vessels, while contributing decisively to:
Early diagnosis of pathological conditions
Accurate staging and monitoring of diseases
Preoperative planning
The Department operates in constant cooperation with the other clinical and laboratory departments of Cosmoclinic, enhancing the overall quality and speed of medical care.
The Department performs CT scans for a wide range of anatomical areas, such as:
Brain and Central Nervous System (for hemorrhages, tumors, ischemia)
Chest (for pulmonary embolism, infections, malignancies)
Upper and Lower Abdomen (liver, kidneys, pancreas, urinary tract)
Angiographies
Bone/Orthopedic Cases, including fractures and postoperative monitoring. Where required, 3D image reconstruction (3D Reconstruction / VRT – Volume Rendering Technique) is performed for a more detailed depiction of the anatomical area.
Interventional Procedures under CT Guidance, such as lung, liver, kidney, and bone biopsies, as well as punctures in areas not accessible by other imaging techniques.
These procedures are performed by a specialized radiologist under local anesthesia, are minimally invasive, and significantly assist in forming a diagnostic and therapeutic plan, particularly in oncological or inflammatory cases. For more information, you can visit the Interventional Radiology Department.
In many cases, to improve diagnostic clarity, the intravenous administration of iodinated contrast is required. The process is short and safe. However, specific preparation and patient evaluation are necessary.
You must bring recent blood test results for renal function monitoring (urea, creatinine).
You must not consume food for 6 hours before the examination.
You may drink water and take your medication as usual.
Inform our staff of any allergies, especially to iodine, seafood, or previous reactions to contrast agents.
Inform our staff about the possibility of pregnancy so that necessary protection measures can be taken or an alternative diagnostic method can be sought.
It is recommended to avoid certain medications (e.g., metformin) in diabetic patients before and after receiving the contrast agent, in consultation with the attending physician.
In rare cases, mild reactions may occur (e.g., a feeling of warmth, nausea). Our Department is fully equipped for the immediate management of any side effects.
Digital images are stored electronically in each patient's individual file through the integrated PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). This ensures the maintenance of an examination archive with the possibility of comparison whenever needed.
The Computed Tomography Department has a contract with E.O.P.Y.Y., offering you the possibility to perform a CT scan using an E.O.P.Y.Y. referral.
