Interventional Radiology

The Interventional Radiology Department of Cosmoclinic is a specialized branch of Medical Imaging Laboratories. It performs minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures guided by imaging methods such as CT scanner and ultrasound (U/S). These procedures are carried out by specialized interventional radiologists in an environment of complete imaging and medical control. Usually, general anesthesia is not required, and patients return immediately to their daily activities.

CT-guided Procedures

• Biopsies of the lung, liver, kidney, bones, and other deeper tissues.

• Collection of cytological or histological material for diagnostic purposes.

• Primarily applied to neoplastic or atypical lesions.

• Punctures of abscesses, fluid collections, the liver, or the pleural cavity, specifically when ultrasound access is not feasible.

• Bone marrow biopsies for the diagnosis of hematological diseases or metastatic lesions.

Ultrasound-guided (U/S-guided) Procedures

• Puncture of suspicious lesions of the thyroid or parotid glands (FNA).

• Puncture of liver lesions for biopsy or aspiration.

• Placement of a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC Line) for patients requiring long-term intravenous therapy.

• Ultrasound monitoring ensures the accuracy and safety of the process.
